Pennsylvania grants for nonprofits: where to look

Pennsylvania recently became one of the better-organized states: discovery is centralized on pa.gov/grants and applications are centralized in the Electronic Single Application, so one Keystone Login account carries across most agencies. The Department of Community and Economic Development is the largest single funder of community organizations, and its menu includes loans and tax credits alongside grants.

Official state grant portal

Discover State Grants (pa.gov/grants), run by the Commonwealth's Office of Digital Experience, aggregating 20-plus agencies.

A public search across 300-plus state programs, launched in late 2024, with filters for applicant type (nonprofits, businesses, government, higher education, individuals, libraries), funding agency, funding type (grants, loans, tax credits, cooperative agreements) and category. Each result links to eligibility, dates and application details. No email-alert feature. Applications go through the separate Enterprise eGrants / Electronic Single Application at grants.pa.gov, which needs a Keystone Login account.

Open data: pa.gov/grants offers no download or API and the open-data portal has no matching dataset.

Federal grants open to Pennsylvania nonprofits

Federal funding is listed on grants.gov; filter by eligibility "Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status" and search your program area. Much federal money also passes through Pennsylvania state agencies as pass-through grants, which show up on the agency pages above rather than on grants.gov.

Worth knowing

Avoiding scams

The rules don't change by state: real grants never charge a fee, never arrive as an award for something you didn't apply for, and are always findable on the agency's own site. Our grant scams guide and 60-second checklist apply in Pennsylvania exactly as in California.

Links on this page were opened and checked on Oct 30, 2026. Agencies restructure sites often; if one is dead, the state's main site search will usually find the new home.
